Which SWMS Pack is Right for Your Trade?

Each pack covers a range of Safe Work Method Statements relevant to one trade — work processes / activities, tools, and equipment. You get everything you need in a single discounted purchase, without having to identify and buy individual SWMS one at a time.

The packs range from 18 to 81 SWMS depending on the trade. The larger trades (construction, electrical, landscaping, plumbing) have more work activities to cover; other specialised trades (painting, plastering, welding) are smaller but equally comprehensive for their scope.

Not sure which pack covers your trade? Every SWMS Pack page includes the full list of SWMS included, so you can confirm before you buy. If your trade isn't listed or you only need SWMS for a subset of activities, call us on 1800 304 336 — we can put together a custom pack at a discounted price.

SWMS Packs vs. Buying Individual SWMS — Which Is Better Value?

If you need more than three or four SWMS, a pack will almost always save you money. Individual SWMS are priced at $49.95 or $69.95 each. Pack pricing ranges from $590 to $1,090 depending on the trade and number of templates — a saving of between 50% and 79% off individual pricing.

If you genuinely only need one or two specific SWMS, individual purchase is the better option — and all our individual SWMS are available separately from our SWMS library.

What Is a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS)?

A Safe Work Method Statement is a document required under the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations before carrying out any high-risk construction work in Australia. It identifies the high-risk construction work involved, describes the hazards, and sets out the controls your business will implement to manage those risks.

High-risk construction work includes — but is not limited to — working at height above 2 metres, demolition, excavation, work near energised electrical installations, work in confined spaces, and work involving asbestos. Most trade contractors will need multiple SWMS covering different activities they routinely carry out.

Your clients may also request SWMS for medium and low-risk work activities. Although these are not legally required under the WHS Regulations, you still need to satisfy client requirements in order to get on site and start work.

Do I Need a SWMS Even If I'm a Subcontractor?

Yes. The requirement to have a SWMS applies to the person or business carrying out the high-risk construction work — not just the principal contractor. If you're a subcontractor working on a site where high-risk construction work is being performed, you need a SWMS for each high-risk activity you're responsible for, regardless of who the principal contractor is.

The principal contractor may also require you to submit your SWMS before you start work on site. Having pre-written, professionally structured SWMS templates means you can comply quickly without having to produce documentation from scratch each time you start a new job.

What States and Territories Do These SWMS Apply To?

All SWMS templates from Occupational Safety Solutions are developed in accordance with the Model Work Health and Safety Act and Model WHS Regulations, which have been adopted in the ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, and WA. Victoria operates under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, which has closely aligned requirements for high-risk construction work. Our templates are applicable across all Australian states and territories.

Can I Use a SWMS Template More Than Once?

Yes — that's the point.  You pay once and use the templates across every project, for every client, for as long as you're in business. There are no per-project charges and no subscription fees. Each time you use a template, you customise it with the specific project details, site conditions, and any additional hazards relevant to that job or site. The pre-written content — procedures, hazard identification, risk controls — stays consistent across all uses.

I have been dealing with Occupational Safety Solutions for many years now. During this time they have assisted my cleaning company with Safe Work Method Statements & other relevant documentation needed across the business.

Being a small business with limited knowledge in this complex field, I believe having Andrew and his team to assist and guide me and my company through what can at times be very stressful, has been a great investment.

Andrew and OSS over the years have been nothing short of amazing. Their professionalism and knowledge have helped me set up my company with the correct documents and management systems to enable my company to fulfil contractual and statutory obligations where necessary.

I would not hesitate in recommending Occupational Safety Solutions to any potential clients looking for this type of business solution. Thanks again Andrew!
