You can’t get away from anything in a bathroom. Two and a half metres by two, no window half the time, and whatever you’re cutting or spraying stays in the room with you until someone opens a door. It’s the smallest workspace most renovators deal with and the one with the most going on in it.

If the work triggers any High-Risk Construction Work (HRCW) categories under the WHS Regulations, a SWMS is legally required. Builders and strata managers will ask bathroom contractors for a SWMS constantly, particularly in units where the job sits above someone else’s ceiling.

The documents here are fully editable Microsoft Word (.docx) files, written by people who’ve been doing this since 2010 for more than 15,000 Australian businesses. You can edit them, you own them, and there’s no subscription or ongoing fees.

The high-risk construction work in bathroom renovation that needs a SWMS

Strip out is the loudest part and the riskiest. Jackhammering a screed, cutting out a cast iron bath, demolishing tiled walls: all of it generates silica dust in a sealed room, and that dust has nowhere to go. On tool dust extraction, water suppression and fit tested respirators need naming in the SWMS. Asbestos is a live question in anything built before the early 1990s, since sheeting behind tiles, old floor levellers and vinyl backing are all candidates. Identify it before demolition starts. Not on day three when someone recognises the smell of trouble.

The services interface is constant. Waste pipes get rerouted through floor joists, hot water systems get replaced, and there’s usually a heat lamp circuit running through the ceiling you’re about to open. Isolation gets confirmed before anyone drills a wall.

Waterproofing adds solvent based membranes in a room with no cross ventilation, which is a fair definition of poor air quality. Then there are wet floors, a bath that weighs more than the two blokes carrying it down a hallway, and overhead work off a small platform in a cramped space. In a unit block, add the neighbour below.

What’s in the Bathrooms SWMS Collection?

The Bathrooms SWMS collection carries 31 documents which can all be viewed above and in the Bathrooms SWMS Pack. The strip out end of the job is covered, which means demolition, silica dust control, and the asbestos document you want on hand in anything built before the early 1990s. So is the wet trade work that follows it: waterproofing, screeding, tiling and the plumbing that gets rerouted while the floor is open. Beyond that sit the finishing and general documents a builder expects alongside them, from cabinetry and painting through to manual handling and hazardous substances. Every SWMS is fully editable, so the controls can be modified if required to suit the room, the age of the building, and who is living under it.

One SWMS or the whole pack?

You can purchase individual SWMS templates if that’s all you need. A bathroom contractor running the whole job from strip out to silicone gets asked for most of the list eventually, and the Bathrooms SWMS Pack costs much less than assembling it piece by piece: all 31 documents and a saving of 65% Off the individual prices, bought once, used on unlimited jobs.

Why Choose Occupational Safety Solutions?

15+ years and 15,000+ customers → We've been helping small and medium construction and trade businesses get their SWMS sorted since 2010. Our templates reflect real-world experience across the trades we serve - not generic documents assembled at a desk.

Pre-written and ready to use → Every SWMS template comes pre-filled with the hazards, risks, and control measures typical for that task and trade. You're not starting from a blank page - the hard work is already done. In most cases it's far quicker to delete what doesn't apply to your specific site than to research and write it yourself.

Legally compliant → Our SWMS templates are prepared in accordance with the Model WHS Regulations (Schedule 3), Safe Work Australia Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards. They're structured to meet all the requirements of a compliant SWMS - so you can use them with confidence on site, in tenders, and in audits.

Fully editable in Microsoft Word → Everything is supplied in .docx format. Add your company and site details, adjust the control measures to reflect your specific conditions if required, and you're done. No software subscriptions, no locked PDFs.

Pay once, use on every job → No ongoing fees, no per-project charges. Purchase a template once and use it across unlimited sites, projects, and tenders. When we update documents, existing customers receive discounts on revised versions.

Free phone and email support → When you purchase from us you get access to the same people who built the documents - not a call centre, not a chatbot. If you're unsure how to customise a SWMS for your specific site conditions, or a principal contractor is asking questions you can't answer, call 1800 304 336 and we'll help you work through it.

Honest advice → If you need one SWMS, we'll sell you one SWMS. If an industry pack makes more sense for your situation, we'll tell you that too. We're not here to push you toward the most expensive option - we're here to help you end up with the right documents for your actual needs.

What Our Customers Say

Andrew from Occupational Safety Solutions has assisted with Safe Work Method Statements on my cleaning/restoration projects over the past few years. Like most small businessmen I am not trained in this complex but necessary paperwork. Finding Andrew was a godsend which saved me late nights before a major project wading through stressful paperwork which reminded me of sitting the HSC.

Occupational Safety Solutions' SWMS have always been professionally prepared on short notice and at very reasonable cost. They make us look professional as the clients think we prepared them. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your products and services and invite any potential clients to contact me for more information about my experiences dealing with Andrew and Occupational Safety Solutions.

As a small-medium business, we recently went through a period of accelerated growth and along with that came the need to update our existing WHS system to something much more robust.

Occupational Safety Solutions helped bring our documentation up to speed and provided guidance to ensure we are aligned with best practice for all of our WHS processes and procedures. Andrew has come to the rescue more than once when we needed new or refined documents for specific tenders and updated Safe Work Method Statements.

OSS are reasonably priced and responsive with fast turn around times. Honestly, we couldn't be happier with the service provided by OSS and would highly recommend to any organisation looking to update their WHS systems.
