View full detailsThe risk of a person falling more than two metres decides it. Once the scaffold goes up past that and the gang is laying off a working platform, the job is High-Risk Construction Work (HRCW) and the WHS Regulations want a SWMS in place before the first course goes on. Most builders and principal contractors will ask for it at induction anyway, and a lot of them won’t let you unload until they’ve got it.
We’ve written safety documents for Australian trades since 2010. These come as fully editable Microsoft Word (.docx) files, so you can change the controls if required, add the site address and the crew names, print it, and sign it. Bought once. Used on every job after that. No subscription and no ongoing fees.
Falls of more than 2 metres is the obvious one, and for brickies it’s a daily condition rather than an occasional risk. Scaffold platform width, guardrails on the open side, brick loads placed on the deck without overloading a bay, and the gap between the platform and the wall.
Silica is the one that gets underestimated. Cutting bricks and blocks dry throws respirable crystalline silica straight into your breathing zone, and the exposure standard for it was halved in 2020. Water suppression on the saw or on-tool extraction, plus a properly fit tested P2 respirator. A beard and a P2 don’t work together, which nobody enjoys being told.
Load shifting matters too. Bricks land by crane or truck mounted crane, and a workplace with powered mobile plant moving through it is high-risk construction work on its own terms. Exclusion zones and a spotter, with the load never travelling over anyone.
Add retaining walls and block work below ground, where you’re often working alongside an excavation more than 1.5 metres deep, and the HRCW categories start to stack up on one job.
The Bricklaying SWMS collection carries 28 documents which can all be viewed above and in the Bricklaying SWMS Pack. The laying work is covered, along with the saw and dust side of it, so cutting, cleaning, rendering and the respirable crystalline silica controls that go with all three. Then there’s access, because most of the gang’s day happens off a platform: fixed scaffold, elevated work platforms and working at height each have their own document. The rest covers the plant and general site work that turns up around a brick job, from load shifting and delivery through to hazardous substances and the ordinary worksite hazards a builder wants named. Every SWMS is fully editable, so the controls can be modified if required to suit unique sites or varying client requirements.
Buying one or two documents makes sense if you’re covering a single task on a single site. If you work for several builders and each wants their own paperwork, the Bricklaying SWMS Pack is the best value: all 28 SWMS and a saving of over 60% Off the individual prices, one payment, used on unlimited jobs. There’s no subscription on either option.

15+ years and 15,000+ customers → We've been helping small and medium construction and trade businesses get their SWMS sorted since 2010. Our templates reflect real-world experience across the trades we serve - not generic documents assembled at a desk.
Pre-written and ready to use → Every SWMS template comes pre-filled with the hazards, risks, and control measures typical for that task and trade. You're not starting from a blank page - the hard work is already done. In most cases it's far quicker to delete what doesn't apply to your specific site than to research and write it yourself.
Legally compliant → Our SWMS templates are prepared in accordance with the Model WHS Regulations (Schedule 3), Safe Work Australia Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards. They're structured to meet all the requirements of a compliant SWMS - so you can use them with confidence on site, in tenders, and in audits.
Fully editable in Microsoft Word → Everything is supplied in .docx format. Add your company and site details, adjust the control measures to reflect your specific conditions if required, and you're done. No software subscriptions, no locked PDFs.
Pay once, use on every job → No ongoing fees, no per-project charges. Purchase a template once and use it across unlimited sites, projects, and tenders. When we update documents, existing customers receive discounts on revised versions.
Free phone and email support → When you purchase from us you get access to the same people who built the documents - not a call centre, not a chatbot. If you're unsure how to customise a SWMS for your specific site conditions, or a principal contractor is asking questions you can't answer, call 1800 304 336 and we'll help you work through it.
Honest advice → If you need one SWMS, we'll sell you one SWMS. If an industry pack makes more sense for your situation, we'll tell you that too. We're not here to push you toward the most expensive option - we're here to help you end up with the right documents for your actual needs.

Thank you to Andrew and team for all of your support, highly recommended!

As a small-medium business, we recently went through a period of accelerated growth and along with that came the need to update our existing WHS system to something much more robust.
Occupational Safety Solutions helped bring our documentation up to speed and provided guidance to ensure we are aligned with best practice for all of our WHS processes and procedures. Andrew has come to the rescue more than once when we needed new or refined documents for specific tenders and updated Safe Work Method Statements.
OSS are reasonably priced and responsive with fast turn around times. Honestly, we couldn't be happier with the service provided by OSS and would highly recommend to any organisation looking to update their WHS systems.
